Israeli military forces carried out a series of raids in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of at least three Palestinians identified as militants. The operations were launched in response to a shooting attack that occurred the previous day.
According to the army, two militants were killed in an airstrike in the area of Tamun after they opened fire on troops. Another militant was reportedly killed in a close-quarters combat situation in the village of Taluza, resulting in a severe injury to an Israeli soldier. Additionally, over 20 suspected militants were arrested during the raids.
Hamas confirmed the death of one of its senior commanders, Jaafar Dababsah, during the Israeli military operations. The group clarified that the overnight raids were not directly linked to the bus shooting incident that claimed the lives of two elderly women and a policeman.
Over the past 15 months, Palestinians have carried out numerous attacks against Israelis, including shootings, stabbings, and car-rammings, particularly amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip. Israel has responded with frequent military actions in the West Bank, often resulting in clashes with militants and civilian casualties.
First International Commercial Flight Lands in Damascus
In a separate development, the first international commercial flight since the recent ousting of Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived at the Damascus airport from Qatar. The flight marked a significant milestone in the aviation sector following the political changes in Syria.
Reports also indicated that a Royal Jordanian Airlines plane was en route to Damascus on a test flight, signaling a potential resumption of regular air travel to and from the Syrian capital. The head of Syria's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, along with a team of specialists, was onboard the flight to assess the airport's readiness for future operations.
