The Gaza health ministry and the director of the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, have reported that the Israeli military conducted two incursions into the hospital compound within the last 24 hours, resulting in significant damage and disruption.
According to Maher Shamiya, a health ministry official, the Israeli military demolished parts of the hospital's wall and damaged the oxygen station during their first entry. The situation escalated further when the military re-entered the hospital yard on Friday morning, reportedly separating men from women and cutting off communication with the hospital staff.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital's director, described a distressing scene where Israeli tanks and bulldozers fired at parts of the complex, shattering windows and causing panic among patients and staff. The chaos led to the evacuation of 23 injured individuals in six ambulances, with an additional 70 critically injured patients still awaiting evacuation.
The health ministry in Gaza has expressed deep concern over the Israeli military's actions at the hospital, emphasizing the urgent need to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and medical personnel. Source has reached out to the Israeli military for a response regarding their operations in and around the hospital.
