Israel's elite Givati Brigade has intensified its operations in the Jabalya area of northern Gaza, as reported by the Israeli military. This move comes nearly two weeks after the commencement of a new ground operation in response to signs of Hamas rebuilding in the region.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), recent efforts have resulted in the elimination of dozens of terrorists through close-quarters combat and aerial strikes. Additionally, terrorist infrastructure in the area has been successfully dismantled.
Tragically, local health officials reported that nearly 30 individuals lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike on a school within the Jabalya refugee camp, which was providing shelter to displaced persons. The IDF clarified that the strike targeted a Hamas and Islamic Jihad 'command and control center' concealed within a compound that had previously functioned as a school.
Furthermore, the IDF disclosed that Israeli troops conducted a strike on a military facility in central Gaza that was being utilized by militants for their operations.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich acknowledged that the majority of Israeli forces had been redirected to the critical operation in Jabalya. However, he noted that troops in the southern command were simultaneously engaged in operations in the Tal al-Sultan area of Rafah, where a prominent Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, was reportedly killed by Israeli forces.
