Israeli Forces Strike Yemeni Cities, Killing Civilians And Damaging Infrastructure

Israel-Hamas war latest: Israel strikes Houthi targets in Yemen

Israeli forces carried out a series of strikes on Thursday in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa and the city of Hodeidah, resulting in casualties and damage, according to reports from Houthi-run media.

In Sanaa, the strikes targeted Sanaa International Airport, where at least three people were killed and 16 others were injured. The attack occurred while a UN team was preparing to board a flight, causing damage to airport facilities. Fortunately, humanitarian staff were unharmed in the incident.

Meanwhile, in Hodeidah, at least one person was reported killed in the Israeli strike, with three individuals still missing. Search and rescue operations are currently underway in the area.

The Israeli military stated that the strikes targeted military infrastructure belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi group. The IDF mentioned specific locations, including the Sanaa International Airport, Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations, as well as ports in Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib on the western coast.

Recent tensions between Israel and the Houthis have escalated, with the latter launching missile attacks on Israeli cities in response to Israeli actions in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides.

Following the strikes, condemnation was voiced by Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam, who described the attacks as a 'crime against the Yemeni people.' Reports also indicated that power plants in Sanaa and Hodeidah were among the targets hit.

The United States and the United Kingdom have previously taken military action against the Houthis in response to disruptions in the Red Sea, a vital maritime route. The US State Department has designated the Houthis as a global terrorist organization.

Recent incidents, including a projectile hitting Tel Aviv and intercepted missiles near the city, have further heightened tensions between Israel and the Houthis. The conflict continues to pose a threat to regional stability and security.
