Israeli Forces Strike Yemen, Houthis Vow Retaliation

Israel-Hamas war latest: Israel strikes Houthi targets in Yemen

Israeli forces carried out a series of strikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa and the western city of Hodeidah, resulting in casualties and injuries, according to the Houthi militant group. At least six people were killed and dozens more were injured in the attacks.

The Houthis, who are backed by Iran and based in Yemen, have vowed to retaliate following the Israeli strikes. In response, Israel's military reported intercepting a missile launched from Yemen before it could cross into Israeli territory, with no injuries reported.

The strike on Sanaa International Airport resulted in the deaths of at least three people and injuries to 30 others, as reported by the Houthi-run al-Masirah television. The World Health Organization Director-General and a United Nations team were at the airport when it came under bombardment, causing one crew member to be injured.

In Hodeidah, at least three people were killed and 10 others wounded in the attacks, which targeted the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa, as well as the Ras Kutub power station. The total number of injured individuals from both locations was reported to be around 40.

The Houthis condemned the strikes as a 'brutal aggression' and vowed to seek revenge. Hezam al-Asad, a member of the militant group's political council, issued a threat to Israel in a post written in Hebrew.

Israel's military stated that the strikes targeted military infrastructure used by the Houthi terrorist regime, including locations at Sanaa International Airport and power stations in Hodeidah governorate. Additional military infrastructure in the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib on the western coast was also hit.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that the strikes on Yemen would continue until the mission is complete, emphasizing the goal of dismantling what he referred to as 'the terror arm of Iran's axis of evil.'

The United Nations delegation in Yemen was there to negotiate the release of UN staff detainees and assess the humanitarian situation. The US and UK have previously taken action against the Houthis, considering them a global terrorist organization.

Recent incidents include a projectile fired from Yemen hitting Tel Aviv, injuring 16 people, and Israel intercepting another missile launched by the Houthis, causing damage to a school near Tel Aviv.
