The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (ISA) have reported that their troops have detained more than 600 individuals in an ongoing operation at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital. The agencies disclosed that over 140 casualties have been recorded during the operation.
According to a joint statement released by the Israeli authorities, several weapons and intelligence documents were seized by the Israeli forces during the operation. The detained individuals reportedly include high-ranking officials affiliated with Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization.
The Israeli military initiated the operation at Al-Shifa on Monday, alleging that the hospital was being utilized by 'senior Hamas terrorists' to coordinate and advance terrorist activities. However, Hamas has consistently refuted these claims, asserting that hospitals are not being used as bases for their operations.
Prior to the commencement of the operation, the Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that thousands of Palestinians sought refuge at Al-Shifa. The accuracy of the IDF and ISA's assertions regarding the detainees and the alleged activities at the hospital remains unverified by independent sources.
