Israeli forces have advanced deeper into the Gaza Strip's largest city in pursuit of militants who regrouped there, causing thousands of Palestinians to flee the area. The incursion into Gaza City comes as Israel and Hamas are making progress in indirect talks over a cease-fire and hostage release.

Israeli troops are engaging militants in areas that were previously cleared in northern Gaza. The military ordered evacuations ahead of the raids, but many Palestinians feel unsafe as most of the population has been displaced multiple times. Hundreds of thousands are living in tent camps due to the ongoing conflict.

Residents reported artillery, tank fire, and airstrikes in Gaza City. The Health Ministry has not reported casualties due to limited access to the affected areas.

Israel has issued additional evacuation orders for central Gaza City neighborhoods, citing intelligence that militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad are present. The military accuses militants of hiding among civilians, leading to a dangerous situation for residents.

Despite progress in cease-fire negotiations, obstacles remain. Hamas is seeking guarantees for a permanent cease-fire, while Israel is adamant about not ending the war with Hamas still intact. There is also a deadlock over the selection of high-profile prisoners for release in exchange for hostages.

Inside Gaza, residents continue to suffer as the conflict escalates. Hospitals are overwhelmed with patients, and medical supplies are running low. First responders are facing challenges in reaching affected areas due to ongoing bombings.

The war has taken a heavy toll, with thousands of casualties reported on both sides. The conflict has caused widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis in the region.
