Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Forces conducted a precision strike on Islamic Jihad targets in Rafa, Gaza. The IDF stated that the operation was aimed at terrorists and terrorist infrastructure. However, Gaza's health ministry reported that 11 individuals lost their lives and many more were injured in the attack. According to Palestinian officials, up to 50 people, including children, sustained injuries.
The strike allegedly hit a refugee camp located near a maternity hospital, raising concerns about the safety of civilians in the area. Despite the casualties, the IDF maintains that the hospital itself was not damaged during the operation.
In response to the attack, Islamic Jihad militants have called on residents of the West Bank and Jerusalem to target checkpoints and roads frequented by settlers, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. The escalating tensions in the region have sparked fears of further violence and retaliation.
