Members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet are planning to delay the vote on the cease-fire and hostage deal with Hamas until Saturday, as reported. This delay could potentially push back the implementation of the deal to Monday. A Channel 12 report referenced by the Times of Israel indicated that the cabinet ministers are scheduled to convene on Friday to deliberate on the agreement.
The meeting is anticipated to extend into Saturday, following which a list of Palestinian security prisoners earmarked for release will be made public. Opponents of these releases will then have a 48-hour window to challenge them by filing petitions with the Supreme Court.
According to the report, Netanyahu's office has opted to postpone the vote to Saturday to allow ample time for opponents of the prisoner releases to submit their appeals. The report also mentioned that while the standard 48-hour period for lodging petitions can be shortened, Netanyahu's office has not been swayed by this argument.
