Israeli airstrikes in Gaza result in dozens killed and injured

Palestinians look for survivors following an Israeli airstrike in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.

Dozens of Palestinians were killed in Gaza today as a result of Israeli airstrikes, as confirmed by doctors at hospitals in the region. Among the injured were children who were rushed to hospitals for urgent medical treatment. In Deir al-Bala in central Gaza, a young girl was seen on the floor of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, calling for her mother after being wounded in a nearby Israeli air strike. The girl's mother tearfully recounted the destruction caused by the missile and the injuries sustained by her daughter.

Rescuers at the site of the impact worked tirelessly to search the rubble for survivors, describing the affected area as primarily family homes. Witnesses reported that two missiles targeted a house, resulting in its complete destruction along with surrounding civilian structures. A man who aided in the rescue efforts mentioned that several women and children, including those with head injuries, were taken to safety.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they targeted Hamas operation and command centers in Deir al-Bala based on intelligence. The coordinated airstrikes led to a significant number of casualties, with doctors at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and nearby Al-Auda Hospital confirming the deaths of at least 44 individuals, including children, and numerous others sustaining injuries.

Recent escalation of violence in Gaza has forced many residents to flee their homes to seek shelter in safer areas. Abu Saif, a displaced civilian, shared his experience of moving to various locations to escape the bombings. Prime Minister Netanyahu advised Gazans to evacuate from Rafa, emphasizing the need for an orderly relocation to safer regions.

Despite international pressure to cease military operations, Netanyahu expressed his commitment to achieving complete victory, which may involve a potential ground operation in Rafa. However, he reassured that such action would only be taken after ensuring the safety of civilians in the area. The situation remains tense as the conflict in Gaza continues to escalate.
