Reports from Lebanon's health ministry later in the day confirmed that the death toll had reached nine, with an additional 14 individuals sustaining injuries in the attack. DNA tests are currently being conducted to identify some of the remains recovered from the scene.
Initial reports had indicated that at least six people had been killed in the airstrike, which is the first of its kind in the area since 2006.
