An Israeli airstrike has reportedly destroyed a building in the town of Nabi Sheet in Lebanon's Baalbek region, located northeast of the capital Beirut, as per Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) on Sunday. The Israeli military, however, has not yet confirmed these reports.
The tensions between neighboring countries Israel and Lebanon have been on the rise since October 7, marked by frequent rocket exchanges. The Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah has consistently voiced its support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and their resistance against Israeli assaults on civilian areas.
It is noteworthy that Israeli strikes in the Baalbek region are relatively uncommon due to its location further north into Lebanon, approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Israel-Lebanon border. In a recent incident, the Israeli military disclosed that it had targeted four sites belonging to Hezbollah's air defense unit in the Baalbek area.
