Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed his support for President Donald Trump's proposal for large numbers of Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip. Katz instructed the IDF to prepare a plan in line with the controversial proposal, stating that Trump's 'bold plan' could 'create extensive opportunities for those in Gaza who wish to leave.'
Initially, Trump's plan suggested the permanent relocation of Gaza's population while the United States rebuilds the territory. However, U.S. officials later clarified that the relocation would be temporary.

During a joint press conference with Netanyahu, Trump mentioned that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip to dismantle dangerous weapons and explosives, level destroyed buildings, and initiate economic development to provide jobs and housing for the area's residents.
Katz emphasized the need for multiple exit options for Palestinians willing to leave, including land crossings, sea, and air departures. He called out countries like Spain, Ireland, and Norway, accusing them of hypocrisy for not allowing Gazans to enter their territories despite criticizing Israel's actions in Gaza.
Despite Israel's support for the plan, it has faced strong opposition from Palestinians and the international community. Critics argue that the proposal amounts to forcible displacement and violates international law, with rights groups condemning it as a violation of human rights.
