Israel has issued a warning stating that any emergency response vehicles in Lebanon suspected of transporting armed fighters will be targeted. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement emphasizing that Hezbollah operatives have been misusing emergency vehicles to transport ammunition and armed operatives for terrorist activities.
The IDF's statement, released in both English and Arabic, reiterated that any vehicle found to be carrying armed operatives with malicious intent will be considered a military target. This warning follows a similar announcement made by the IDF Arabic language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, on October 5.
Health workers in Lebanon have been increasingly targeted since Israel intensified its campaign against Hezbollah. The World Health Organization reported that since September 16, 65 health workers have been killed and 40 injured in Lebanon. Furthermore, 96 primary health care centers and facilities in the southern part of the country have been forced to close due to the ongoing conflict.
It is important to note that health and aid workers have historically been vulnerable to attacks during conflicts involving Israel. In Gaza, a CNN analysis revealed repeated attacks on and near medical facilities despite the presence of doctors, patients, and civilians.
