Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations has emphasized the urgency for the Security Council to take action against Hezbollah and Iran, stating that the 'diplomatic window of opportunity is closing.' The Security Council is scheduled to convene for an emergency discussion on 'recent developments in Lebanon.'
Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador, will urge the Security Council to issue a strong condemnation of Iran and Hezbollah, stressing that mere words are insufficient and concrete actions are necessary. He will highlight the long-standing issue of UN resolutions being disregarded, specifically referencing UN resolution 1701, which mandates the withdrawal of Hezbollah forces to the north of the Litani River and the exclusive presence of the Lebanese military in the border region.
During the meeting, Danon will assert that it is imperative for Hezbollah and Iran to face the consequences of their actions. He will call for the disarmament of Hezbollah and demand accountability from Iran for its role in destabilizing the region, as outlined by Israel’s UN mission.
