Israel is preparing to release 95 Palestinian prisoners, including 10 teenagers, as part of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal agreed upon by Israel and Hamas. The announcement was made by Israel's justice ministry in a statement released on Friday.
The ceasefire and hostage deal are set to take effect on Sunday and will be implemented in three phases, with the first phase expected to last for six weeks.
According to the statement, the total number of prisoners to be released on Sunday consists of 70 females and 25 males. Among them are 10 minors, including one teenage girl and nine teenage boys aged between 16-18. The names of the 10 minors have not been disclosed by the justice ministry.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), an NGO advocating for the rights of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, has reported that two female detainees on the list have already been released. The PPS has sought clarification from Israel's justice ministry regarding this matter.
As part of the exchange of Palestinian prisoners, three female Israeli civilian hostages are also expected to be released on Sunday, as confirmed by two US officials.
