Israel Successfully Defends Against Iran's Missile And Drone Barrage

Objects are seen in the sky above Jerusalem after Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel, in Jerusalem

A senior US military official has stated that the United States has evaluated that there was no significant damage within Israel following Iran's recent missile and drone attacks. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari supported this assessment, noting that out of the hundreds of rockets launched by Iran, only a few managed to breach Israeli defenses, causing minor damage to infrastructure at the Nevatim airbase and a road in the Hermon region.

Despite the attacks, the Nevatim airbase remained fully operational, with planes continuing to take off and land to carry out their missions. US President Joe Biden conveyed to the Israeli prime minister that Saturday's events could be considered a victory for Israel, as Iran's assault was largely ineffective and highlighted Israel's superior military capabilities.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby emphasized that Israel's ability to prevent widespread damage showcased its military and diplomatic strength. He praised Israel's success in demonstrating its military superiority and the support it received from allies in the region and around the world.

The assessment from both US and Israeli officials underscores the resilience and preparedness of Israel in the face of external threats. The events serve as a reminder of the ongoing tensions in the region and the importance of maintaining strong defense capabilities.
