Israel Strikes Beirut In Response To Hezbollah Attack

Funeral of Hezbollah member, who was killed in southern Lebanon amidst tension between Israel and Hezbollah, in Baalbek

Israel’s Defense Ministry recently released details of a call between Yoav Gallant and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. During the call, Gallant briefed Austin on Israel’s 'precise operation' in Beirut, which was described as a 'direct response' to Hezbollah’s attack on Majdal Shams that resulted in the tragic deaths of 12 children.

Gallant emphasized Israel’s commitment to self-defense while clarifying that the country was not seeking war. He highlighted the importance of the strong ties between Israel and the United States in maintaining regional stability and deterring threats from Iran and its proxies.

Israel's recent strike in Beirut targeted Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fu’ad Shukr, whom Israel held responsible for the deadly attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Israel Defense Forces reported that the operation led to the elimination of Shukr, resulting in three fatalities and 74 injuries, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The incident underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and the complex dynamics between Israel, Hezbollah, and other regional actors. The situation remains fluid, with potential implications for broader security and stability in the Middle East.
