Israel has signed a free trade deal with the United Arab Emirates – its first with an Arab country. The historic pact builds on the normalisation of ties in 2020 and eliminates tariffs on 96 percent of goods. It aims to bring growth and lower prices to both countries. We take a closer look.
Also this week, Lebanon's newly elected parliament held its first session. Among the 128 MPs are 13 independent newcomers who won seats in the May 15 election. Despite being split on a range of issues, they are determined to dismantle what they describe as the corrupt ruling class from the inside. Finally, we take a closer look at Swedish-Egyptian filmmaker Tarik Saleh, who won best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival for his movie "Boy From Heaven". The thriller is set in Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque, one of the country's most renowned educational institutions for Sunni Muslims. But the film has ruffled feathers in Egypt for its depiction of the power balance between religion and politics.
