Israel's security cabinet is scheduled to convene at 10:15 a.m. (3:15 a.m. ET) on Friday to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal, as confirmed by an Israeli official. The meeting comes in the wake of negotiators reaching a deal in Doha for the release of hostages.
The security cabinet, which consists of 11 members, with eight from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, will be addressing the recent developments. However, it is worth noting that two far-right coalition partners in the security cabinet, National security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and finance minister Bezalel Smotrich, have expressed their opposition to the deal.
The security cabinet is expected to hold a vote before the onset of Shabbat at sundown, with a broader government vote anticipated on Saturday. This crucial meeting will play a significant role in determining the course of action regarding the Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages.
