Israel's Defense Minister Announces Impressive Operation Against Hezbollah

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant meet in Berlin

Israel's defense minister announced on Monday that the military had conducted a significant operation against the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon. Yoav Gallant praised the operation as impressive, stating that tens of thousands of rockets and precise munitions had been neutralized. He emphasized that the IDF's actions were dismantling what Hezbollah had built over the past two decades since the second Lebanon War.

This operation marked Israel's most intense wave of strikes in Lebanon since the 2006 war. Gallant highlighted that the past week had been particularly challenging for Hezbollah, with significant blows to its chain of command, control, and morale. The group suffered losses as Israeli strikes targeted its stronghold in southern Beirut, resulting in the elimination of key commanders, including a high-ranking elite force commander, Ibrahim Aqil.

Continuing its offensive, the Israeli military launched another strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Monday.
