Israel has introduced fresh proposals to mediators involved in the hostage-for-ceasefire discussions, as per a diplomatic source familiar with the ongoing negotiations. The specifics of these new ideas have not been disclosed at this time.
On Tuesday, the diplomatic source indicated that there were no broader meetings scheduled for the day. Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas have been at a standstill for the past three weeks without reaching a resolution.
Recent reports suggest that Egypt may have complicated the negotiation process by unilaterally altering the terms of a framework that Israel had previously agreed to and then presenting these modified terms to Hamas, who subsequently announced their acceptance of the revised proposal.
However, this alteration was made without the knowledge of Israel or the other mediators involved, namely the United States and Qatar, leading to feelings of frustration and discontent among the parties.
Earlier this month, Hamas had declared its acceptance of a proposed deal, but Israel swiftly rejected the terms, stating that they were inadequate and did not align with its demands.
