Israel Launches Airstrikes On Yemeni Ports

Israel-Hamas war latest: Israel strikes Houthi targets in Yemen

Israel has conducted airstrikes on the Yemeni ports of Hodeidah and Ras Isa, targeting power plants and a seaport, as confirmed by a statement from the Israel Defense Forces. The strikes were aimed at infrastructure used by the Houthi regime to transfer Iranian weapons, military supplies, and oil to the region.

The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported the attacks, specifying that the ports and electrical stations were among the targets. The IDF stated that these actions were in retaliation for recent attacks by the Houthi regime against Israel.

The Houthis, considered an Iranian proxy group, are aligned with other organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas in their opposition to Israel. Tensions have escalated following clashes involving these groups, particularly after Hamas' attacks on October 7 and subsequent Israeli military operations in Gaza.

The Houthis have expressed solidarity with the Palestinians by targeting vessels in key shipping lanes. The recent killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has further heightened tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict involving Iran and various militant groups.
