Israel's defense minister has issued a stern warning to Yemen's Houthi rebels following heavy airstrikes launched by Israel on rebel sites. The defense minister emphasized that Israel will not tolerate any further shooting from the rebels and will respond with force to any threats against the state.

The airstrikes, which targeted rebel-held areas in Yemen, resulted in the deaths of at least nine people. This retaliation came shortly after a Houthi missile struck central Israel, causing significant damage to a school building.

The Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, have been involved in various attacks, including targeting ships in the Red Sea corridor and launching missiles at Israel. Despite these provocations, the rebels have not faced the same level of military strikes as other militant groups in the region.

Latest Developments

Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen's capital and a port city in a preplanned operation involving multiple fighter jets. The strikes aimed at disrupting rebel infrastructure that supported their military activities.

The Israeli military spokesperson highlighted that the targets struck by the airstrikes were crucial to the Houthi rebels' operations. The attacks risk escalating tensions with the rebels and could impact global shipping in the Red Sea corridor.

Reports indicate that power stations in the capital and the Ras Isa oil terminal on the Red Sea were among the targets hit by the airstrikes. Casualties were reported in the port city of Hodeida, with at least seven people killed at the Salif port and two at Ras Isa.
