Israel's military announced on Wednesday that it had successfully targeted and killed an operations officer in Hezbollah's aerial unit in a strike conducted on Tuesday night, just before the ceasefire between the two parties came into effect. The strike resulted in the death of Jafar Ali Samaha, who was identified as being responsible for launching UAVs and cruise missiles towards Israel.
Prior to the ceasefire agreement taking effect at 4 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Israel's military carried out a series of intense bombings in Beirut's southern suburbs. In a span of just two minutes, the area was hit with 20 airstrikes, marking one of the most concentrated bombardments since the conflict began. Tragically, at least 25 individuals lost their lives in the strikes, with a reported 10 casualties occurring in central Beirut.
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces released a statement detailing the strategic strikes conducted by its Air Force on numerous Hezbollah targets. These included command centers, launchers, weapons storage facilities, and terrorist infrastructure sites located in Beirut, Tyre, and Nabatieh.
It is important to note that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah has officially commenced in Lebanon, with the aim of upholding an 18-year-old UN resolution that was initially adopted to bring an end to a month-long conflict between the two nations back in 2006.
