Israel announced on Sunday that it has ceased the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza following the expiration of phase one of its ceasefire deal with Hamas. The ceasefire, which had been in effect since January, involved the exchange of hostages and prisoners between the two parties.

Phase one of the ceasefire deal reached its expiration date on Saturday, with Israel seeking to continue the exchange of hostages and prisoners, as well as the flow of aid into Gaza. However, Hamas has refused to accept an extension proposed by the US, leading to the halt of humanitarian aid by Israel.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office stated that the cessation of aid is a response to Hamas' refusal to adhere to the proposed extension. Israel emphasized that it will not allow a ceasefire without the release of its hostages and warned of additional consequences if Hamas continues to reject the terms.

The suspension of humanitarian aid has been met with criticism, with Palestinian leaders denouncing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. Hamas has insisted on advancing to the second phase of the agreement, which includes negotiations for a permanent ceasefire and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement had previously resulted in the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, bringing some relief to the conflict-torn region. However, the current impasse threatens to unravel the progress made so far.

As tensions escalate, both Israel and Hamas are facing pressure to resume negotiations and find a way forward to ensure stability in the region. The fate of the remaining hostages and the well-being of Gaza's residents hang in the balance as the ceasefire hangs in the balance.
