Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on Tuesday that the Radwan special forces unit of Hezbollah in Lebanon is being dismantled. During a tour of weapons seized from Hezbollah, Gallant emphasized the determination of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to ensure the safety of Israel's northern communities.
Gallant highlighted that the weapons, missiles, explosives, and RPGs seized by the IDF were intended for launching attacks to harm Israeli citizens. The IDF's efforts to locate and destroy Hezbollah's attack infrastructure in southern Lebanon have been ongoing, with a focus on eliminating the Radwan forces along the border.
Major General Ori Gordin, the leader of the IDF's Northern Command, briefed Gallant on the progress of IDF operations in southern Lebanon. The Minister was shown a variety of confiscated Hezbollah weapons as part of the briefings.
The IDF's actions reflect a strategic approach to neutralizing the threat posed by Hezbollah in the region. By dismantling the Radwan forces and disrupting their plans for attacks, Israel aims to enhance the security of its border areas and protect its citizens from potential harm.
