A senior U.S. official has confirmed that Israel is responsible for the explosions of pagers used by members of Hezbollah in Lebanon. The detonations of pagers, utilized by the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group, resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 12 individuals, including two children, and left nearly 3,000 people wounded.
Following the initial explosions, additional blasts were reported in Beirut during a funeral for Hezbollah members and a child who lost their lives in the previous day's incidents.
Hezbollah's TV network reported explosions in various parts of Lebanon, attributing them to walkie-talkies detonating. Additionally, Hezbollah claimed to have launched rockets at Israeli artillery positions in response to the explosions.
An American official revealed that Israel had briefed the United States about the attack involving small amounts of explosives concealed in pagers. The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the U.S. was not involved in the incidents.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed the situation, stating that the U.S. was still gathering information and urging all parties to avoid actions that could escalate the conflict. Blinken emphasized the importance of preventing the conflict from spreading to other regions and called for restraint from all parties involved.
