Israel has announced that its air force has carried out a “second wave” of strikes on Hezbollah positions, including targets deep within Lebanon. The strikes, which took place on Tuesday, were directed at terror targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Beqaa Valley and various areas in southern Lebanon, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The IDF stated that the strikes were conducted based on intelligence provided by IDF intelligence. The targets included buildings used for storing weapons, command centers, and other terrorist infrastructure sites. The IDF reported that secondary explosions were observed during the strikes, indicating the presence of large quantities of weapons in the targeted buildings.
These recent airstrikes come after Lebanon experienced its deadliest day in nearly two decades on Monday, following Israeli airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions across the country. The toll from Monday's airstrikes was devastating, with nearly 500 people killed, including dozens of children. This single-day death toll is approximately half the number of Lebanese casualties recorded during the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.
