More than 100 “projectiles” have been fired from Lebanon into Israel overnight, according to the Israeli military. The escalation in cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in a significant number of projectiles being launched.
Reports indicate that around 85 projectiles were fired at approximately 6:30 a.m. local time, following an initial barrage of about 20 projectiles just 90 minutes earlier. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that some of the projectiles were intercepted, while others landed in the areas of Kiryat Bialik, Tsur Shalom, and Moreshet.
Footage from Israeli media showed the aftermath of the attacks, with cars on fire and buildings damaged in the northern town of Kiryat Bialik. The Israeli Fire and Rescue Service documented the destruction, including charred vehicles and buildings with blown-out windows.
Emergency services in Israel, Magen David Adom, reported treating four individuals for shrapnel injuries sustained during the attacks. Three of the victims suffered minor injuries, while one person was classified as having moderate injuries.
In response to the attacks from Lebanon, the IDF stated that it is actively targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon and will continue to intensify its operations. Hezbollah, on the other hand, claimed responsibility for firing rockets at Israel, specifically targeting the Ramat David air base in two separate incidents.
Hezbollah also announced that it had targeted RAFAEL, an Israeli military technologies company located in the Haifa area of northern Israel. The group cited its actions as a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza and retaliation for what they described as a 'brutal massacre' carried out by Israel earlier in the week.
While Hezbollah made claims regarding the attacks on Israeli targets, the IDF stated that they were not aware of these specific incidents. Efforts are underway to verify the claims made by Hezbollah, including reaching out to RAFAEL for further information.
