Ismaila Sarr agent makes 'planned' transfer claim as Liverpool watch on

Ismaila Sarr will have 'chances to leave' Watford during the summer transfer window, the agent of the Senegalese star has claimed.

The 24-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract at Vicarage Road and continues to be linked with a move away from the Hornets. Whether Sarr chooses to stay or go could very much depend on if Watford can beat the drop in the Premier League, a situation which remains uncertain.

Sarr emerged as a transfer target for the Reds during the 2020 summer transfer window, though the club decided against a move after learning of a £40million asking price. Jurgen Klopp's side could potentially decide to re-enter the race to sign the exciting attacker, who seems increasingly likely to move on.

Issuing an update on his client's future, Sarr's agent, Thierno Seydi, told Afrique Sports : “The only evidence is that I think he has chances to leave regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season with Watford. That’s how it’s planned with those in charge."

Seydi also spoke of how close Sarr came to leaving Watford when they were last relegated from the top-flight at the end of the 2019/20 season, only for a deal to fall through at the final hurdle.

He said: “Last year, or a year and a half ago, when the team had gone down to the Championship, he was meant to go, and I was convinced he would. Until the last minute, it was almost guaranteed he would leave, but unfortunately it didn’t get done.

"He took it on the chin and played in the Championship. He told me it was maybe the step he needed and he had a great season after that. Watford went back up. He’s been in good form, but the injury has stopped him in his tracks. He’s going to come back soon and try to finish the season like a cannonball. It’s clear there are chances he leaves this year from Watford."
