Isle of Arran Distillers has installed new electric charging units at its two distilleries at Lochranza and Lagg.
This has doubled the total number of public charging facilities on the island.
The install was completed with local Ayrshire-based company Connekt EV, which has got the four new charging units up and running.
Connekt EV founder Johnny Manning explained that there are four 22kw fast charging units at each site, and it has partnered with More:trees so that for every charger installed, a tree is planted.
“This is a great move forward to be supporting the charging infrastructure in Ayrshire & Arran and I am immensely proud to be part of contributing towards a more sustainable future,” he added.
Euan Mitchell, managing director of Isle of Arran Distillers, commented: “Visitors to the island can now travel between both distilleries and around the island in the safe knowledge that they can charge up their electric vehicles.
“As an EV driver myself, I am well aware of the benefits this will bring, as well as further enhancing our company’s green credentials.”
