Newcastle United struggled to a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday as their wait for a second league win of the campaign continues into the international break. Phillip Billing opened the scoring for the visitors before Alexander Isak netted his first St James' Park goal from the penalty spot.
The Magpies struggled to break down a stubborn Bournemouth side who defended deep throughout the tie. Eddie Howe admits his team found it tough and failed to show their best in attack.

Isak's determination
As Newcastle pushed for a winner in the closing stages of the tie, goalscorer Isak tried to help his team out in attack. The Swede lost the ball in the process as he was dispossessed by Jack Stacey in the Bournemouth half.
Rather than throw his hands in the air and whine, Isak picked himself up and sprinted almost the entire length of the pitch to try and win the ball back - with a menacing look on his face in the process.
The Bournemouth attack fizzled out under the pressure as the striker then made his way back up the pitch once more. Not bad at all considering this was in stoppage time too.
Joelinton on corners?
Remember when Roy Hodgson put Harry Kane on corners for England? Well, maybe we are going to see something similar for Newcastle this season.
As the Magpies earned a corner early in the first-half, fans inside St James' Park expected Kieran Trippier to jog over and pick up the ball. However, they actually found Joelinton in charge of the set-piece.
Usual business was soon restored with Trippier back in charge later in the game. But it does make you wonder if they've been trying something new on the training ground.
Trippier vents
Newcastle's best chances of the first-half came down the right-hand channel. Trippier, Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron all linked up well to get in behind Bournemouth's defence on multiple occasions during the opening 45.
However, at one stage of the afternoon, Trippier wasn't happy with some of his co-stars as a move broke down. After Newcastle lost possession, the right-back turned to the bench and began shouting towards Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall.
The matter didn't affect his performance but goes to show just how committed the former Tottenham star is when it comes to this football club.
Isak's penalty stance
As Craig Pawson checked the pitchside VAR monitor for Newcastle's penalty claim, Bruno Guimaraes took the opportunity to pick the ball up and stand near the penalty spot.
In Callum Wilson's absence, it certainly looked like the Brazilian fancied his chances of taking the upcoming spot-kick for the Magpies. However, Isak was having none of that.
The 22-year-old walked over, picked the ball off his co-star before rifling his effort past Neto. Speaking after the game, Howe confirmed that he wants his strikers on the pitch to be the ones taking penalties.
