Isaiah Wynn: Patriots ‘dumbed it down a little bit’ on offense for 2022

If there’s one New England Patriots player who is dealing with the most change in 2022, it’s probably Isaiah Wynn. The team’s former left tackle appears to be on the move to right tackle, an entirely new position for him. He’s also doing it under a new position coach, Matt Patricia, with no named offensive coordinator in an offense that’s undergoing a transformation.

Bill Belichick said the team will “streamline” their offense this offseason, which indicates a substantial schematic adjustment. But those changes may actually make life easier for Wynn,

“So far, I feel like they took out a little bit of thinking for us. You know what I’m saying? And they kind of dumbed it down a little bit so everybody can play faster,” Wynn said last week.

New England lost offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason along with three of the team’s offensive assistants. It seems Belichick has take the opportunity to make the offense more approachable with quarterback Mac Jones entering Year 2 under the leadership of Patricia, Joe Judge and Bill Belichick.
