Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart has been suspended three games by the NBA for punching Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks at the arena hours before the teams played on Feb. 14. Stewart was arrested by Phoenix police following the incident, issued a citation, and then released. However, the misdemeanor assault charge against Stewart has been dismissed by the Phoenix Municipal Court, as confirmed by a filing obtained by ESPN. The motion to dismiss was filed by the prosecutor's office and granted.
Eubanks recounted that the altercation occurred as he entered the arena. He mentioned that an argument ensued between him and Stewart, leading to a physical confrontation where Stewart threw a punch. Security personnel intervened, allowing Eubanks to still participate in the game that night. Despite the incident, Eubanks managed to contribute six points and grab eight rebounds in 18 minutes of play.
Stewart, who had already missed eight consecutive games due to an ankle sprain, will now face a three-game suspension imposed by the NBA. The Pistons are set to resume their season on Thursday night in Indiana, marking the beginning of the second half of their campaign.
