Arizona Cardinals safety Isaiah Simmons (he is moving from linebacker to safety officially this year) enters 2023 with one year left on his rookie contract, making it an important year financially.
Simmons doesn’t feel any more pressure than he normally would.
“Personally, I go about every year as a contract year,” he told reporters this week during minicamp. “I just couldn’t imagine somebody would go out there and not try to have the best season they could possibly have.
“Regardless of whether I’m going to get paid after this year or never, I’m going to go out here and do the best I can do for me team and do what I do.”
Simmons is confident in his abilities. He could end up cashing in if he has a big year. The Cardinals opted not to exercise his fifth-year team option in his contract, so he will be a free agent next offseason.
