Isaac Hayden has revealed why he opted to swap Newcastle United for Norwich after joining the Canaries on a season-long loan deal. The midfielder, 27, leaves the Magpies after making 171 appearances for the club, scoring seven times.
Hayden missed the second-half of the season through injury and was left out of Eddie Howe's 25-man squad. His exit looked nailed on this summer after cryptic social media posts in recent weeks.
Speaking after making the switch, Hayden admitted: "I am here to try to help the team get back to the Premier League. The facilities at the training ground are great and changed significantly from when I have visited before. I’ve also looked at our squad and I want to add to that.

“The head coach was a big factor for me. He called me straight away and saw that I was out of the picture at Newcastle. I had spoken to him a few times before and he always struck me as somebody who was trying to do the right things."
Hayden may join Norwich on a permanent deal next summer should 'performance-related criteria' be met in the next 12 months. The player hinted at a permanent exit on social media recently.
He wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “Another season completed. Started poorly, ended on fire. Takeover done, future is bright for this great club. Personally my toughest in pro football but everything happens for a reason. Thank you for your incredible support this season and over the last six years.”
Hayden is still thought of highly among Newcastle fans after years of services since his arrival from Arsenal. The player won supporters over after staying with the club despite seeking a return to the south in recent years.
