Is Deliveroo driving Londoners bananas?

Congratulations are in order to Deliveroo co-founder and CEO Will Shu. The delivery app this week posted its first ever interim profits -- with signs of even stronger growth to come. And Deliveroo’s share price was handsomely rewarded for the success. But there appears to be one thing Shu can’t quite get off his mind.

The Standard asked him to list off the most popular items ordered on its app. The CEO has added a huge range of new products to Deliveroo over the past year, including attractive new premium offers. But no matter what he does, he can't seem to dislodge the number one most ordered food item: bananas.

Shu said: "In terms of London stuff it’s kind of the same stuff…eggs…bananas….the number four most ordered item in grocery is cucumbers and number five is toilet paper.

"I’m getting bored just reading this. We need to change that but that’s what people are buying."

It's not your fault, Will. Some Londoners are just a bit dull. Not City Spy readers, though.
