Is wide receiver the biggest need for the Raiders in 2022?

Going into the 2022 offseason, the Raiders have several holes they must fill before they can be considered a Super Bowl contender in the AFC. Most of those holes are on defense, but the offensive line needs to be addressed, as well.

However, the biggest need without a question is wide receiver. Entering the offseason, only Hunter Renfrow and Bryan Edwards are under contract. Renfrow is a Pro Bowl slot receiver, but the team needs someone who can stretch the field on the outside.

In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, they named wide receiver the biggest need for the Raiders this offseason. Here is what the site had to say about how they could fill that position in the 2022 NFL Draft.

“Las Vegas needs a speedy deep threat to complement slot receiver Hunter Renfrow and dynamic tight end Darren Waller. While Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams closed out his 2021 season and college career with a torn ACL, he still is worth taking in Round 1 at Pick No. 22 for the Raiders.

The 6-foot-2, 189-pound wideout is one of the class’ fastest players at the position, making him an explosive play waiting to happen. His 12 touchdowns of 20-plus yards even led the Power Five this season.”

Williams is one of the several receivers the Raiders could consider in Round 1. Williams has elite speed to stretch the field and compares favorably to a taller Will Fuller or DeSean Jackson.

The Raiders have to get better and faster on the outside this offseason, so don’t be surprised if Williams or another first-round receiver is the pick at No. 22.
