Another weekend has come and gone now with most of us back to work after an unusual but very welcomed end-of-week bank holiday.
An additional bank holiday was allowed on June 3, 2022 to mark The Queen's Platinum Platinum Jubilee, meaning today, Monday 6 June, is not classed as a bank holiday.
There are laws that allow the dates of bank holidays to be changed, or other holidays to be declared, for example to celebrate special occasions.

What would have been the late May Bank Holiday 2022 was moved as part of the four-day jubilee bank holiday that ran from Thursday 2 June.
What is a bank holiday?
Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Public Holidays are different and are holidays which have been observed through custom and practice, such as Christmas Day.
When are Northern Ireland's bank/public holidays in 2022?
Only four holidays remain for 2022 in Northern Ireland. They are:
July 12 - Battle of the Boyne
August 29 - Summer Bank Holiday
December 26 - Boxing Day
December 27 - Christmas Day
When the usual date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the 'substitute day' is normally the following Monday, confirms NI Direct.
For example in 2022, Christmas Day is on Sunday December 25, so the substitute day is Tuesday December 27.
