A new Korean-inspired restaurant is set to open at the Metrocentre this Christmas - and it could be the shopping centre's healthiest eatery yet.
Grounded Kitchen will welcome festive shoppers through its doors for the first time on Monday, December 12, and is promising diners that all of its dishes will be both "nutritious and delicious."
The restaurant chain has said that its aim is to serve 'feel-good food' and expects to be a hit with fans of clean eating. The menu will feature dishes including SsamBaps (Korean lettuce wraps) and Korean Bao (steamed buns).

It will also be serving up 'nourish bowls' which are made up of marinaded vegetables, rice, and a choice of meat, fish, or a vegetarian option.
Ralph Llanwarne, Grounded Kitchen’s franchise director, said: “We’re very excited about opening our first store in Gateshead. We pride ourselves on delivering meals so tasty that people forget that our basic focus is on a healthy balance, and we are delighted that the local community will now be able to experience our Korean nourish bowls at Grounded Kitchen for themselves.”
The new restaurant will be able to seat 44 diners, but also offers takeaway. The opening has created 30 new jobs in Gateshead and is one of a number of new eateries at the Metrocentre this year.
Spanish chain, Tapas Revolution, opened in November and Texas' Wingstop is due to launch in mid-December serving up chicken wings, tenders, burgers and platters.
Grounded Kitchen will be open Monday to Saturday, 10.30am to 10pm and Sunday, 10.30am to 9pm.
