Is the French political map changing?

Is the French political map changing?

This week’s regional elections in France were supposed to bolster the chances of victory for the nation’s leading two candidates ahead of next year’s presidential vote.

But neither President Emmanuel Macron’s governing party, nor Marine Le Pen’s far-right, won a single region in Sunday’s vote.

What will this mean for next year’s presidential race?

Presenter: Folly Bah Thibault

Guests:

Nacira Guenif – Sociologist and professor at the University of Paris 8

Aurelien Mondon – Senior lecturer in politics at the University of Bath and author of, Reactionary Democracy

Jacques Reland – Senior research fellow at The Global Policy Institute
