Are the 'Cities: Skylines II' DLCs Delayed Even More?

Bad news for Cities: Skylines II fans who are waiting for the release of previously teased DLCs. It has been confirmed that the release of these DLCs have been delayed yet again.

The DLCs were previously delayed last November after the game's performance was widely criticized, according to a report.

It should be noted that the game's console release was also previously delayed indefinitely.

Why the Additional Delay?

According to game developer Colossal Order, the delay in the release of other DLCs for the game is so that they can focus more on its asset editor.

"The Asset Editor has presented us with more challenges than we expected, but we're making good progress and have been sharing updated builds with the modding beta group, so they can get familiar with the Editor and provide feedback on its functionality," said Colossal Order.

"While we have done some initial testing of the importing, saving, and sharing processes, more work is needed before we can release the beta version of the Editor for public use, Colossal Order added.

When will the DLCs be Released?

Due to the additional delay, the release of the Urban Promenades pack and the Modern Architecture Creator pack will be delayed to the last quarter of 2024. The Bridges & Ports expansion, on the other hand, has been delayed to the second quarter of 2025.

"We will continue dedicating our efforts to the base game before shifting focus to paid content," said Colossal Order. "Our goal is to ensure the community is satisfied with the state of the game, and once we've achieved that, we'll be excited to release these amazing packs to you!"

'Cities: Skylines II'

Cities: Skylines II is a city-building game released on October 24, 2023, for Windows. The game is developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive.

As previously mentioned, a planned release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S has been delayed indefinitely.

The game challenges the player to build and expand a city amidst a changing environment. The player gets to pick which map they want to build their city in, and the player has to deal with changing weather, challenges brought about by changing seasons, as well as rising pollution.

Days after its launch, the game was widely criticized due to bugs and other performance issues. As of press time, the game has "Mixed" reviews on Steam.
