Sunderland face Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, in the penultimate game of their League One campaign. The game kicks-off at 7.45pm and - potentially - the Black Cats could guarantee a play-off place, depending on events elsewhere.
Alex Neil's side go into this game sitting fourth in the table and on the back of an 11-game unbeaten run, having beaten Cambridge United 5-1 in their most recent game at the weekend, when Ross Stewart scored twice, and Elliot Embleton, Nathan Broadhead, and Danny Batth one apiece. But the Millers have wobbled recently, with their 3-1 home win against Oxford United only their third league victory in ten outings. Sunderland lost 5-1 against Rotherham at the New York Stadium back in October, with Michael Smith and Freddie Ladapo each scored a brace, and Michael Ihiekwe scoring the other. Stewart had levelled for Sunderland at 1-1 before Rotherham took the game away from them, and the Black Cats also had Aiden McGeady sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence.

What is the early team news ahead of Sunderland vs Rotherham United?
Defender Dennis Cirkin and Carl Winchester are both expected to miss the game due to injury.
Cirkin sat out Saturday's win against Cambridge, and Alex Neil suggested afterwards that he would only feature again this season if Sunderland extend their campaign by reaching the play-offs.
