Is Strictly on tonight? BBC updates viewers as schedule changes again

Strictly Come Dancing has long been a Saturday night staple with the live shows airing weekly on BBC One. The ballroom competition, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, then airs the results on a Sunday evening.

However the long-standing series has seen a massive shake-up in its scheduling over the last few weeks as the broadcaster makes way for the football. Last week the quarter-finals aired on Friday with the results on Saturday as the programme clashed with the Qatar World Cup knockout stages.

This week, which marks the 2022 semi-finals, the schedule has been rearranged once again. It means there will be no Strictly whatsoever on Friday, December 9, or Saturday, December 10.

Instead the live shows will be going ahead on Sunday, December 11, at 7.15pm with the results for the semi-final airing on Monday, December 12, at 8.15pm. Strictly shared the news on social media, telling fans: "The Strictly semi-final is hitting your screens next Sunday and Monday! Send this to a friend who needs a reminder."

And while delayed the show is set to be a good one with this year's semi-finalists all required to do two dances for the judges. Those still left in the competition are Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystał, Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, and Will Mellor and Nancy Xu. Speaking on Strictly's It Takes Two recently Claudia and Tess gave their predictions for the series final. "We cannot call it, can we? It is anybody's guess. Everybody has topped the leader board, everybody has scored 10s. It is the closest we have ever had," said Tess, who has hosted the show since it first began in 2004.

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7.15pm on Sunday, December 11. The results show will then air at 8.15pm on Monday, December 12. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
