Since Ryan Day took over the Ohio State football program from Urban Meyer, he has gone 56-8 over five-plus seasons.
For most teams, this would be viewed as exceptional, one that wouldn’t potentially put the head coach on the hot seat. That isn’t the case in Columbus, as three-straight losses to Michigan has everyone up in arms about Day’s job.
College Football Report on social media released its list of coaches that are on the hot seat, and Ohio State was named in the second-tier along with multiple teams whose profile isn’t nearly as good as the Buckeyes.
Should this really be the case for Day after winning 87.5% of his games?

Personally, I don’t believe that Day is on the hot seat, but I can see where the senitment is coming from. He inherited a program that was set up to win titles, but hasn’t really come close aside from one season.
The losses to the Wolverines are part of the angst as well, but remember, Jim Harbaugh started his career against the Buckeyes going 0-5 before breaking through in 2021. As we all know, Ohio State fans aren’t patient, especially when losing to Michigan multiple times in-a-row. Remember John Cooper? We all do.
It makes sense for many to believe that Day is on the hot seat, but in reality, he shouldn’t be. He’s won enough to be given the benefit of the doubt, and this year’s team is set up to win the first expanded College Football Playoff.
How do you feel about Day? Should he be on the hot seat?
