Manchester City star Erling Haaland WON'T play this weekend – and may be given extended break to recover from injury

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is currently nursing an injury, with Fantasy Premier League managers sweating over his fitness.

Haaland began the season as the most chosen player in the whole of Fantasy Premier League. Part of FPL relies on having the players that your rivals have, simply so that you don't miss out on the points that everyone else gets.

With a starting value of 14.0, though, there's scope for swapping out Haaland if he's missing…

Manchester City won't have Erling Haaland after he was pulled out of training this week. The Norwegian superstar has been nursing an injury – and still hasn't recovered fully.

"It's not a fracture, just stress," the City boss revealed before Christmas. "He arrived today [December 21], he will see the doctors and then we will see."

The problem is a recurrent one, however, and it's possible that we may not see the forward return to his best this year without a significant rest period.

"Erling has developed bone stress that could potentially lead to a stress fracture," co-founder of Man City Brazil, Evans Anjos, has claimed. "Some stress fractures fail to heal properly, causing chronic issues… if the underlying causes are not addressed, he may be at a higher risk of developing additional stress fractures.

"Basically, he needs a holiday, to stay away from activity and this will just be possible in the summer."

With City not wanting to risk Haaland right now, it may be more likely that he returns for the run-in when the club are on the ascent in the final throws of the season.
