Liverpool will host Wolves at Anfield on Wednesday night in a Premier League match they must win to keep alive their hopes of finishing inside the top four.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are seventh in the Premier League, nine points off fourth-placed Tottenham after being held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace on Saturday. That result which halted the momentum built by successive league wins over Everton and Newcastle.
The Reds have kept three straight clean sheets in the Premier League, but their confidence took a huge hit in the 5-2 thrashing by Real Madrid in the Champions League last week.
They host a familiar opponent on Wednesday, having already played Wolves three times in the past few months. Liverpool got past Wolves in the fourth round of the FA Cup in January, with a narrow 1-0 in a replay after an initial 2-2 draw, but suffered a 3-0 thrashing by Julen Lopetegui’s side in the league on February 4.
Klopp’s team will now face Wolves for the fourth time in quick succession in a game which was originally due to be played in September, only to be postponed following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Wolves are 15th in the Premier League table, three points above the relegation zone, and come into this game after drawing 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Friday.
