Is Liverpool vs Strasbourg on TV? Kick-off time, match odds and team news

Liverpool return to Anfield on Sunday for their final pre-season friendly of the summer ahead of next weekend’s Premier League lift-off, as they welcome Strasbourg to Merseyside.

The Reds have had a mixed bag of results this summer, winning two and losing two of their four games, while they faced Manchester City in the FA Community Shield just 24 hours ago, meaning today allows everyone who didn’t play yesterday the chance of gaining 90 minutes.

But French outfit Strasbourg will be looking to dampen the mood here, and are coming off the back of a season that saw them finish an impressive 6th in Ligue 1. This will be their sixth and final pre-season friendly of the summer.

When is Liverpool vs Strasbourg?

Liverpool vs Strasbourg will kick-off at 7:30pm on Sunday, July 31 at Anfield.

The two sides have met on two previous occasions, with the last encounter coming way back in November 1997, when Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield in the second leg of their UEFA Cup Second Round tie.

After a goalless first half, Robbie Fowler put the Reds ahead with a 63rd minute penalty, before Karl-Heinz Riedle added a second in the 84th minute, but it was not enough for the hosts to turn the tie around after losing the first leg 3-0 in France.

Team news

Jurgen Klopp will be expected to completely rotate his side from Saturday’s Community Shield clash with Man City and make wholesale changes here, meaning that a very youthful team could prepare to take centre stage on Liverpool’s Anfield return on Sunday, with a number of injuries also impacting the team selection.

Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota are out, while Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calvin Ramsay are all doubts. It could well be a very similar lineup to the one that lost to RB Salzburg in midweek, meaning the likes of Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, James Milner, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho all start.

As for Strasbourg, manager Julien Stephan will be eager to test his ever improving side against one of the best teams in the world here, even if they won’t be at full strength, and will be aiming for a big win at Anfield in front of a full house for this fixture.

There are a few familiar names within the squad, including former Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels and former Fulham defender Maxime Le Marchand, as well as veteran striker Kevin Gameiro. Star striker and Newcastle target Ludovic Ajorque, who registered 12 goals and eight assists last season, should lead the line.
