Is Legoland's new ride open today?

Queueing families were left disappointed after Legoland's new ride had to close on its opening day due to "technical" issues.

Haunted House Monster Party opened at the Legoland Windsor Resort on Saturday, but closed shortly afterwards and remained closed on Sunday.

Legoland said the ride will now remain closed on Monday too.

A spokesman said: "We’re experiencing technical issues with the Haunted House Monster Party, which means that we won’t be in a position to open the ride on Monday.

"We are working with the ride manufacturer to have the ride back in operation as soon as we can.

"We will keep people informed of any updates on our social channels.

"We apologise for any disappointment and hope people will enjoy the many other rides, shows and attractions across the resort."

Lauren Melling, 30, said she travelled from Leigh-on-Sea in Essex with her two sons - four-year-old Teddy and seven-year-old Jayden - specifically for the new ride on Saturday.

They queued for two hours before being turned away.

She said her children got drenched in the rain while standing for ages in a "massive queue".

This is what the ride will look like (when it does open):

Dental nurse Ms Melling said the ride appeared to have only worked for an hour or so before breaking down.

She added: "There was a lot of people moaning. There was loads of people that had gone there, clearly like us, for that ride.

"My child was crying. Teddy was crying. He was really upset about it."

Commenting on Legoland's Facebook page, Beth Stobart said: "For some balance we had a fantastic day yesterday. Kids got on all their favourite rides (driving school, learner drivers, Ninjago, dragon, Atlantis, Mia's, jolly rocker, knights quest, laser raiders) as well as riding the new one.

"We were in the crowd for the new ride opening show, watched the Legoland opening show and pirate show. We spent a lovely half an hour building an Easter egg each to take home. Walked through the Star Wars exhibition. Ate Lego chips for tea. We even got shiny new Vampire pop badges. Granted we didn't get on every ride, but I'm not sure where we'd have found time to."

These are the dates of all the bank holidays in 2019
